A RUSSIAN CARVED BONE 'ARCHANGEL PATTERN' TYPE CHESS SET, 19th century, in natural and red stain, the kings, queens, bishops and pawns with finials carved as faces, the knights as horse's heads, rooks as half reeded barrel forms, king 7cm high, pawn 4cm high
This may seem a very long list - but the chess set is in good order with only minor defects.
Slight chip to foot rim of one castle.
One knight - chip to mane and an ear.
One knight - small chips to both ears.
One knight - small chip to one ear.
One bishop - slight chip to ring beneath face, chip to ruff around the neck, fine crack to back of head.
One bishop - chip to hair back of head and a chip to ring below ruff.
One Queen - in good order.
One Queen - slight chips to ring at the bottom of reeding.
One King - in good order.
One King - fine crack from lower neck into reeded lower body.
One pawn - very small chip to curl of hair, right hand side.
One pawn - chip to back of head.
One pawn - fine crack to body.
One pawn - slight chip to underside/rim of base.
One pawn - tiny knicks to one part of the foot rim, these are naturally occurring and a small chip to the finial.
Two pawns - each have a small chip to foot rim.
