A PAIR OF GEORGE I BRITANNIA SILVER TAPER STICKS, London 1718, Edmund Holaday, each of baluster tapered octagonal stems on square canted bases, engraved to the navette facet with coat of arms and initialled RBJ to one edge of the foot, approximate height 17cm, total approximate weight 17oz
Only one has the lions head on the sconce but the other has an oval outline in the corresponding area. The outline can be felt so it may be either scored or a patch. The corresponding interior has a slightly raised area. There is no further engraving to either stick. The stick with the lions head has an area on the lower knop where the surface is dull as if something has removed a thin layer of metal
