Renowned Dog Breeders’ Collection Comes Under the Hammer

A collection of items from the late, renowned Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeders Clare and Tony Lee will come under the hammer at Morphets of Harrogate 7th September 2017 Fine Art & Antiques auction.

Clare and Tony Lee were at the forefront of breeding, showing and judging Staffordshire Bull Terriers for many years. Clare was brought up around Staffords as her father, A.W.A ‘Nap’ Cairns, owned and bred Staffords under the Constones prefix from the early 1940s. Tony also took to the breed on meeting Clare in the 1950s and they eventually became internationally recognised, travelling the world judging and lecturing on the breed.

As part of their passion for Staffords and Bull Breeds they collected a great number of items over the years including printed matter, paintings and prints many of which are included in our Fine Art sale.  A number of the items were inherited from ‘Nap’ and indirectly from H.N Beilby, a noted father figure of the breed.

Also within the sale are Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Books from 1859 onwards, volumes of The Stafford, Our Dogs Christmas Editions from the 1920s and later which are sure to be of interest to professional dog breeders and dog lovers alike.
