November 2007 Fine Wine and Port AuctionAs well as a good number of real bargains, Morphets Auctioneers offered in their Fine Wine Sale on Saturday 17th November more fine and rare wine gems including Chateau Lafite Rothschild from the near perfect 1947 vintage and examples of other fine classified claret including a very rare offering of the 1956 Mouton Rothschild and a 1939 Pichon Lalande. Vintages of Chateaux Margaux and Latour also appeared with a chance to purchase some bottles of 1961 Lynch Bages at between £55 to £68. Other fine and rare wines offered were from The Museum Collection of Tokay in 1940 and 1972, the 100 Parker pointed Cuvee Centenaire 1998 from Chateauneuf du Pape, a good number of Vintage Ports back to 1924, some tremendous Burgundies, Grange, Bin 707, Meshach, Hill of Grace, E&E from Australia, good quantities of everyday drinking wines and some unusual whiskies. 12 bottles Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 1970 sold for £700 with the hammer falling on the 12 bottles Chateau Grand Puy-Lacoste Cru Classe Pauillac 1996 OWCat £600.
